DESCRIPTION

Loudoun Education Association is the local union for Loudoun County Public Schools Employees. When educators speak up, we harness the power of collective action for our students and schools.

Answer: Not known.


Question: Are your leadership, human resources, employees, or volunteers provided or required to utilize LGBTQ-specific training or educational content each year?

Answer: It is recommended, but not required.


Question: How often do you believe your leadership, human resources, employees, or volunteers utilize LGBTQ-specific training or educational content each year?

Answer: Multiple times per year.


Question: Do you feel that your policies and procedures cover LGBTQ-specific needs for all of your employees, staff, and volunteers?

Answer: We have policies written specifically for the protection of LGBTQ+ individuals.


Question: Do you feel that your policies and procedures cover LGBTQ-specific needs for your those who rely on your service?

Answer: We have used references from LGBTQ+ organizations to build our policies and procedures.


Question: How well do you feel that you and your staff are doing at creating an accepting and affirming presence for the LGBTQ+ community?

Answer: Our staff and space are generally friendly, non-hostile, and open to all people, but nothing LGBTQ+ specific.

Question: What type of non-profit organization do you represent? Briefly describe your mission.

Answer: LEA Mission: The Loudoun Education Association is the public school employees’ union advocating for high-quality public schools. Our members unite with students, families, and the community to fulfill the promise of public education to prepare every student to succeed in a diverse and interdependent world.


Question: Do you have any LGBTQ+ board members? Include any information, if possible, about how they represent LGBTQ+ issues in your organization.

Answer: Yes, we have a Minority and Social Justice Caucus to determine needed advocacy and action of our educator members and their school communities.


Question: Do you supply any training materials to individuals in your organization, or outside of your organization? If so, what do those materials entail?

Answer: Various materials provided by Virginia Education Assocation and National Education Assocaition.


Question: How do you make your organization a safe and affirming place for LGBTQ+ people to be?

Answer: We follow all policies of VEA, NEA, LCPS, and basic decorum in our meetings and events.
